President's Award Recipients Announced at AMIA 2001
Washington, D.C., November 7, 2001 - Patricia Brennan, RN, PhD, President of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), presented President's Awards at the AMIA 2001 Annual Meeting. The President's Award is given to a member of the association who has performed ongoing significant work on behalf of AMIA. The 2001 recipients included:
Carol Aronson, Margaret Olah, Judy Privett, and Molly Pruett in gratitude and acknowledgement for outstanding support of the Journal of the American Medical Informatics (JAMIA) during its first decade.
Blake Wachter in appreciation for organizing and managing the efforts of the AMIA student volunteers at the Annual Symposia.
Charles Safran, MD in recognition of his vision in the field of medical informatics through chairing the AMIA Meetings Committee, Annual Symposium Program Chair, Board member, and as an international leader representing the best interests of AMIA.
Milton Corn, MD for your good humor and enthusiastic leadership and support in advancing research and research training in medical informatics.
Helmuth Orthner, PhD in gratitude and acknowledgement for outstanding intellectual leadership and education vision in the field of medical informatics.
Leadership Group and Members of the Nursing Informatics Working Group in gratitude for establishing a working group that serves AMIA and the profession, establishing an enduring leadership model for the NIWG, and raising the awareness of AMIA and nursing internationally through the efforts of the NIWG.
