Benefits of Membership

Why Members Belong
Billions of dollars are spent annually on clinical trials. As the clinical-trial industry grows and as medical practice turns increasingly to clinical-trial evidence, we are seeing a greater need for information systems that can help us design, conduct, report, and interpret clinical trials efficiently and correctly. Large savings in time, expense, and labor could result if these systems could be integrated into an open infrastructure for clinical-trial development and interpretation.
The Clinical-Trials WG provides a forum for exploring the commonalities among clinical-trial systems, and for investigating potential approaches to integrating these systems.

Other Benefits
AMIA working groups serve as a mechanism for members to become involved in a specific area of focus in informatics. Membership in a working group avails an individual to assist with projects including:
  • White papers
  • Programs for the AMIA Annual Symposia
  • Separate conferences or meetings devoted to the specific workings of the Working Group
  • Position statements

Members are able to engage in networking activities including:
  • Discussion lists
  • Business meetings at Annual Symposia
  • Special other meetings often scheduled at the Spring Congress
